Payment

We currently accept PayPal, Zelle, and major credit cards. Orders are shipped Monday through Wednesday nationwide and on Thursdays to customers on the east coast only. Once payment is received and cleared unless alternative arrangements have been made.

Shipping

All live fish orders will ship Monday through Wednesday with UPS Next Day Air which is guaranteed next day delivery, message with tracking info will be sent once it has been shipped. Orders placed and paid for by 5:00 PM on Sunday may be eligible for next-day shipping with prior confirmation. Cannot ship to a P. O Box. It must be a residential address or business. Our fish are carefully packaged using cycled water, pure oxygen, and double-layered 3 mil poly bags for maximum safety. Please note: Certain Koi may be lightly sedated during transit and could appear sluggish upon arrival. As long as there is gill movement, gently introduce them to fresh water to help them recover.

Shipping Schedule & Weather Conditions

We only ship when temperatures at both the origin and destination are within safe limits. If conditions are not suitable, we will hold your order until the next safest shipping day.

Combined Shipping

If you would like to combine shipping, please message asking to hold for combined shipping. Once we determine the adjusted weight and box dimensions needed to safely ship your fish together, we will refund any difference in shipping costs. We are also able to give a shipping discount for any additional Koi that you purchase together, just ask us. Local pickups are also available. This will save you shipping costs. Preparing For Your New Koi

Thank you for choosing Koi Boyz for your purchase. We hope your koi will bring long-lasting enjoyment and enhance the beauty of your pond. Introducing new koi requires careful attention, both for the health of the fish you are adding and for the well-being of the koi you already own. Please take a moment to review and follow these guidelines to ensure the best outcome.

Introducing Koi Safely

Even with the highest standards of care, newly purchased koi may still carry parasites, bacteria, or fungal organisms. Additionally, koi that have been shipped often arrive stressed and fatigued from transport. It is essential to provide them with a stable and low-stress environment to allow for recovery.

The most effective way to protect your existing pond and help your new koi acclimate is to place them in a quarantine tank for up to 21 days. This period allows you to observe the fish closely, reduce the risk of spreading disease, and give the koi time to rest and regain strength before they are introduced to the main pond.

We strongly recommend that you quarantine all newly purchased koi.

Before Receiving Your Koi

  • Prepare a dedicated tub or tank to house your new koi during the initial adjustment period. Depending on the size of the fish, a tank with a capacity between 100–300 gallons is generally sufficient. Blue show tanks or sturdy container tubs can also be used.
  • Fill the tank with fresh, dechlorinated water, well water, or water taken from your existing pond—provided that your current pond stock is healthy and the water is in good condition.
  • A tank equipped with a filtration system is ideal. If one is not available, ensure proper aeration with the use of an air pump.
  • Maintain the water temperature at 72°F or higher. For smaller tanks, one or two aquarium heaters will usually be adequate.
  • Add non-iodized sodium chloride saltslowly and only after you put the Koi in the tank. Prepare the salt solution at a concentration of 0.3% (2.5-3 pounds of salt per 100 gallons of water).

When You Receive Your Koi

  • First, examine the condition of your koi. If they appear healthy and active, float the unopened bag in the quarantine tank for 15–30 minutes to allow the water temperature to equalize.
  • If a koi is lying on its side, appears weak, injured, or shows signs of illness, release it into the aerated quarantine tank immediately. Contact us within 2 hours and provide photos, videos, and as much detail as possible so our team can assist promptly.
  • When releasing koi, do not introduce the water from the shipping bag into the quarantine tank. Use a net to transfer them from the bag to the new tank. If the koi seem exhausted or stressed, open the bag and transfer them quickly to minimize stress.
  • Be sure to fully cover the tank. Newly introduced koi often attempt to jump out as they adjust to unfamiliar surroundings.

While Your Koi Are in Quarantine

  • Observe the koi closely for 14–21 days to monitor for any signs of illness or abnormal behavior.
  • If the quarantine tank lacks a filtration system, perform partial water changes of approximately 25% every 2–3 days, and replenish the salt concentration as needed.
  • During quarantine, feed only easily digestible foods. Wait until the koi are actively swimming and appear ready before resuming a normal feeding schedule or transitioning them to the main pond.
  • Test the water daily for Ammonia and Nitrite. If Ammonia levels are detected, perform a partial water change immediately to protect the health of the fish.

Live Arrival Guarantee

Please track shipment so you are there to receive it. We cannot be held responsible for any fish losses caused by the customer not being available to receive the package on the first delivery attempt. Please ensure someone is present to accept the shipment upon arrival If your Koi arrives DOA (Dead on Arrival), please email us a clear photo of the fish within 2 hours of delivery. The picture must show the tail(s) removed, and it must be sent on the same day the shipment is received. Once the photos are reviewed, all DOA claims will be considered for replacement. We reserve the right to request additional proof if necessary. A full refund will be issued for the cost of the Koi only. Please note: shipping charges are non-refundable.

Restrictions

Certain states prohibit the shipment of Koi. We do not knowingly ship fish to any restricted areas. It is the buyer’s sole responsibility to understand and comply with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding the possession of fish in their area. Please contact your local Department of Fish and Wildlife for information on applicable laws. We only send orders to states in the US. No shipping to Maine, Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands, Alaska and Hawaii. No international shipping.

Disclaimer

Please note: Due to variations in monitor settings and screen displays, the colors shown online may differ slightly from the actual appearance of the fish. For the safety of your existing collection, we strongly recommend quarantining any new fish for at least three weeks before introducing them to your main pond. Maintain a minimum water temperature of 75°F during this period, as some fish diseases may not be visible at cooler temperatures. We do not assume responsibility for issues resulting from the mixing of new and existing fish.
